Ribosome is a highly complex organelle,whose main function is to translate genetic code into amino acid sequence and construct protein polymer according to mRNA instructions.In the regulation of protein synthesis,ribosome has been proved to be heterogeneous.However,it is not clear whether the translation during spermatogenesis is completed by specific ribosome.Moreover,we still know little about the precise regulation mechanism of ribosome heterogeneity.

　　On December 14,2022,Sha Jiahao and Guo Xuejiang of Nanjing Medical University and Qin Yan of the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly published a research paper entitled A male germ cell specific ribosome controls male fertility in Nature(IF:69.504).The research revealed a sperm specific ribosome that can regulate male fertility,and analyzed its regulation mechanism.
